How to Spread Cheer to Those Who Need it Most

How to Spread Cheer to Those Who Need it Most

We could all use a little extra cheer this holiday season but our hearts are especially with those who have been isolated in long-term care facilities. Our elderly and vulnerable populations are missing human connection more than ever, so what better way to make their spirits bright than to send some cheer safely in the mail.

Create your card!

Spread Cheer to Those Who Need it Most

While our holidays may look a little different this year, sending cards is one cheerful tradition we can still look forward to. Send your holiday cards using a Nations Photo Lab modern design, get crafty and make your own using our custom printable designs, or, if you’re feeling extra jolly, do both! Know before you send.

The CDC, World Health Organization, and Surgeon General have indicated that there is currently no evidence that COVID-19 is being spread through the mail, but many care facilities have created restrictions around incoming mail.

To ensure your cards are going to facilities that are accepting mail, our friends at TimeSlips curated a list of care homes that have requested mail to raise the spirit of their residents.

If you know of a care facility that would be interested in participating, encourage them to submit their information to TimeSlips!

Keep your sentiment sweet!

Hand written holiday card

If you aren’t sure what to write on your card, we have some tips:

Do:

  • Make sure it is legible
  • Share personal stories
  • Show empathy
  • Express your love
  • Keep it age-appropriate and uplifting
  • Draw a picture
  • Include your favorite quote or poem

Don’t:

  • Mention religion
  • Discuss politics
  • Express fear

We’re stronger together, so encourage your friends and family to join in on the fun! Use the hashtag #SpreadCheerWithNPL so we can see your cards and spread as much cheer as possible this holiday season.
