What is “GAL-entine’s Day” you ask? Well, besides the most fantastic invention ever, it’s a Valentine’s Day get-together just for gals. The “gals” of NPL got together to try their own, and came up with three tips for hosting a fabulous Galentine’s fete, even if you start planning the day before:
1. Keep the menu super simple.
How long has it been since you’ve been able to do nothing but pop champagne, eat nothing but pink and red foods, and catch up about life with your best lady friends? There’s no shame in committing to simplicity (especially if it’s a day-before invite)! We each brought a bottle of champage and a Valentine’s-colored, super-easy treat to share.
Save the four-course meal for later, and opt for our tasty snack menu: cream cheese and red pepper jelly, chips and salsa, cute pink cupcakes, fresh strawberries for the bubbly, and our ol’ standby, pizza!
2. Use the “special occasion” tableware.
If not now, when? $7 champagne looks pretty lovely in the champagne flutes from your wedding, and two-step appetizers really glow in that serving dish from grandma. Any day with your gals is a reason to celebrate, and today should be no different!
3. Give little gifts with a LOT of heart.
Kate brought each of us prints from one of our first DIY projects together, which are now proudly displayed on our desks at the office. Valentine’s Day-themed buttons, photo coasters (so fun), luggage tags, and even customized USB drives may only take only a few minutes to personalize, but they’re way more meaningful than a box of chocolates.
Don’t forget to treat yourself, too! If ever there was a day when you could justify buying yourself a bouquet of fresh blooms, it would be February 14th.
